I guess it counts as a good day for Trump- the RCP average dropped from 9.7% to 9.6% in favor of Biden, and two polls showed a single digit race. The difference in his lead, compared to Hillary’s on this date also fell from 4.4% to 4.3%. Small victories, right? The bad news for him is he’s now down 10.1% on 538. No matter how you slice it, he’s down 10%, and that’s 4-5% worse than 2016 at this point. That’s really bad.
With blowout margins comes silly season coverage. Apparently Biden visiting Nevada up by 7% is him trying to avoid an upset, and not just him doing his due-diligence. Seriously. Apparently this is bigger news than Biden pulling down buys in Virginia and Colorado, where he holds commanding leads. These were the biggest swing states in the country 12 years ago. Now? They’re blue. The latest Colorado poll has Biden up 10%. Nevada is following in it’s footsteps.
In an interesting local story, Northampton County gets some more national press. We are a great swing county, but with Lehigh’s leftward move, I don’t know that it’s indicative of the state result anymore. I guess we’ll see.
